The Career Opportunity:

The Sr. Staff Accountant will support the Assistant Controller in the month-end close process including reconciliations, journal entry preparation and general ledger review to ensure an 8-day close. They will depend heavily on their robust general accounting foundation, self-starter spirit, strong communication skills, and detail-oriented personality to thrive in a very dynamic business environment while ensuring nothing slips through the cracks as we expand our stake in the practice management and electronic health record (EHR) space. 

The position is based in San Diego, CA with a hybrid work schedule (3 days per week in office).

Areas of Accountability:
  • Participate in the monthly close process. Prepare monthly journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations to achieve an 8-day close.
  • Perform account analysis and required actions to ensure accuracy of the general ledger
  • Prepare and assist in review of monthly balance sheet and income statement trend and variance analysis
  • Participate in the design and implementation of process improvements throughout the accounting department
  • Assist in the documentation of new and existing processes
  • Ensure the accuracy of data and adherence of the ERP system to GAAP Principles
  • Recording and reconciling payroll transactions including 401k and benefits
  • Complex monthly commission calculations
  • Participate in special projects, as needed

Competencies for Success:
  • 3-5 years of Senior Accountant level experience
  • Experience of payroll and benefits reconciliation preferred
  • BS/BA in Accounting required
  • Superior knowledge of Microsoft Excel (Pivots, VLOOKUP, complex formulas)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in high growth, fast-paced environments through organic initiatives or acquisitions a plus
  • Experience in a small company or mid-size company preferred 
  • Comfortable performing ad-hoc research and analysis
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and work in a team-oriented environment
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, Zuora, NetSuite, or similar software preferred
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

At PracticeTek we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine our offers of employment. This includes internal and external market factors as well as your individual experience and skills. These considerations can cause compensation to vary but we reasonably expect to pay between $49,450 - $105,000 for this position.
