Engineering Department:
The Engineering department at PracticeTek is responsible for designing, developing, and scaling our SaaS platform to meet the needs of thousands of healthcare providers. Working closely with Product and Design teams, Engineering ensures the seamless delivery of performant, secure, and cost-effective software solutions.
The Engineering team is responsible for the foundational infrastructure, security, and reliability functions that support all PracticeTek products. This includes cloud architecture, observability, cost efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements like HIPAA.

As the Director of Software Engineering you will shape and execute the long-term technology vision for PracticeTek’s product solutions tailored for dental and orthodontic practices. This role offers the chance to build and scale a secure, compliant, and efficient solutions used across thousands of practices. You will collaborate with senior cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Finance, Compliance, and Business leaders) to align engineering initiatives with market needs and regulatory requirements, while mentoring and growing high-performing engineering teams.

Areas of Accountability:
- Define and execute the engineering strategy for the Dental/Ortho group, ensuring alignment with business objectives and product goals.
- Oversee the architecture and development of services and products, ensuring scalability, security, and seamless integration across brands.
- Lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering a high-performance culture and driving best practices in software development, DevOps, and cloud-native architectures.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Finance, Compliance, and Business leaders to ensure technology solutions meet evolving market needs and regulatory requirements.
- Implement modern engineering practices, leveraging microservices, event-driven architecture, API gateways, and cloud-native technologies (Azure/AWS, Kubernetes, .NET, React).
- Develop and manage technology roadmaps, balancing innovation, technical debt, and operational efficiency.
- Partner with Security and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to HIPAA and healthcare regulations.
- Drive talent acquisition, career development, and team scaling efforts to support business growth.
- Establish engineering KPIs and ensure teams are delivering on performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency goals.
Competencies for Success
- Proven experience leading on/offshore engineering teams in healthcare technology domains.
- Deep expertise in cloud-native architecture (Azure/AWS), microservices, and API-driven platforms.
- Strong leadership and strategic vision, capable of influencing executives and aligning engineering execution with business strategy.
- Experience with regulatory compliance (HIPAA) and designing secure, scalable financial transaction systems.
- Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional alignment.
- Passion for innovation, engineering excellence, and building high-performing teams.
